(01/02/2016) - IslaMar is a great place set back from the beachfront and big resorts. It is living in Mexico, if you get my drift. IslaMar is back perhaps 6 or 7 blocks from the resorts. We wanted something different this time. I loved being back with the local vibe. There are restaurants with amazing food back here. You walk to them. We walked at night through the narrow streets and visited with the friendly people. We felt safe. I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just telling you what we did. We also rented a small car and went to the beach every day. We found our dollars went a long ways in the grocery store. No place is too far away on Cozumel. Christmas Night we wandered into a park with an amphitheater. There was a clown performing. There were perhaps 200 locals there and we saw one other gringo. I loved being there and watching these beautiful people. They all seemed glad to see us. Is it for everybody? Probly not. There is a nice little clean pool, but nobody is going to bring you a margarita. If you have a hankering for fries at midnight, not going to happen. If you are set on a resort, this is not your place. But If you want to stay in a beautiful affordable villa with super cleaning and other services and run by great folks in the middle of town, you should try this. I love it and can't wait to go back! Hey ~ I just wanted to follow up and say what a great time we had swimming with the whale sharks. I also wanted to commend our tour guide Cesar. He was very knowledgeable of the people, the land, the culture, and the history. I would highly recommend him to anybody wanting to tour Mexico.
Thanks again for all of your help, Matt Brosh ~ Austin, Texas

Stay (02/23/2013) - This has been an awesome three (3) months in Cozumel. So sad to go home. Thank you Zuri for everything, you are wonderful. Sherri, you have a great group of people working for you. Thank you very much for everything. Hopefully I will return. I love all the people I met, from everywhere. This is really paradise!!! (05/24/2015) - Our first visit to Mexico and we loved it! IslaMar was perfect for us laid back and very quiet people. Far enough away from all the tourist traps but close enough when we needed that part of it. The staff we met were Nidia, Andrea and Juan – all very helpful and friendly. We used bicycles to get to and from the beach a lot (30 minute rides) and to go to the grocery store and to tour the area! We visited four (4) local restaurants – El Super Hit; Chilango’s, El Mission for lunch and San Carlos for fish – all were very good and helpful with our broken Spanish. Love Cozumel and hope to come back soon! Loved the, the pool, etc.! We used Cozumel Rent-a-Bike – great bikes and door-to-door service! Great service from Martin as well as he arranged a rental car for us very last minute from Bonefish – Awesome Service! G. & F. Bungay ~ Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Stay (03/27/2014) - We truly enjoyed winter at our second home, IslaMar! Each of you at IslaMar provided a wonderful atmosphere given the tragedy of loss of a beloved staff member. None of you has had an opportunity to mourn his loss, as you all have been knee-deep taking care of all of us. We were hesitant to mention Miguel, but we wished to honor him as an intricate part of the IslaMar family for many enjoyable years. Sherri, Mauricio and Zuri, thank you for taking care of us! Pam & Art B. ~ Portland, OR
