PalMar Snorkel Beach Club & Patas y Alas Butterfly Sanctuary
Looking to avoid the mobs of the other big cruiser beaches and really relax on your next island visit? Then we invite you to join us and our staff at PalMar Snorkel Beach Club, located in the Dzul Ha Reef, for a nice, quiet and relaxing day in Cozumel. These days it seems like every beach club in Cozumel is so packed with tourists that visitors are often wanting and searching for a less crowded alternative. If you prefer a less chaotic and more personalized environment when visiting Cozumel, then our quiet and quaint PalMar Snorkel Beach Club will be the perfect spot for you and your group to come spend the day! We really are the "Best Kept Secret in Cozumel" that many taxis claim doesn't even exist!!!.
PalMar Snorkel Beach Club is located just a mile or so south of downtown San Miguel and is enclosed with walls, fences and gates on all sides. PalMar sits in front of a 10,000 square foot private beachside residence and provides a unique feeling of a more home-style experience. Inside our walls you will find a freshwater swimming pool (great for novice snorkelers to practice their snorkeling techniques) with jetted spa area, showers, rinse tanks, restrooms and lockers as well as snorkel equipment gear (mask, snorkel and fins) and vests for rent. Surrounding the pool and jetted spa (not heated) area is a large decked area with plenty of loungers, chairs and tables for your relaxation pleasure! The grounds inside feature both sunlit areas to soak up our "Caribbean Paradise" rays and also natural shady areas from the numerous trees for those needing to cool off from the sun..
You will also find our friendly and helpful staff ready to provide you and your group everything you need to make your stay at PalMar Snorkel Beach Club a wonderful experience. You will find a quaint snack bar area where you will be able to purchase tasty freshly made-to-order snacks (guacamole, pico de gallo, ceviche, quesadillas, etc.) and a nice selection of beverages (bottled water, soda, beer and a selection of tropical mixed drinks). Our staff is always more than happy to make you a tasty snack or whip up some liquid refreshment during your time here at PalMar Beach SNorkel Club!
PalMar's Beach and Ocean area is just a few steps outside our gates where you will see our beach area surrounded by a retaining wall filled with sand, palm trees, potted plants, loungers, tables and chairs for any guests that prefer a waterfront, beachside day in paradise There are no crazy jet skis buzzing around constantly nor massive water mountains to scale out front at PalMar Snorkel Beach Club. Instead, we invite you to enjoy a relaxing day lounging on our beach under our palm trees! If you want to snorkel and swim in our world famous Dzul Ha Reef, you will find an abundance of incredible coral reefs, colorful fish and marine life here at PalMar! The beach-entry is a few steps down from our beach area directly into the pristine waters of the Caribbean. Do not forget to bring your underwater camera to snap pics of your time underwater! Plus our dedicated staff will keep a watch out for you on the beach in order to keep the drinks and snacks coming as you need them!
We can and do limit the number of guests inside to a maximum of seventy-five (75) at any given time to ensure a quality and enjoyable experience for everyone. Therefore, PalMar Snorkel Beach Club does require a Advance Reservation & Deposit (If possible, a ONE(1) Week Advance Notice Please - but we will work with you if less notice is provided)! If you want the best beach entry snorkel experience, you have to come out to PalMar Beach Club for the day. We came out on Wednesday, 12/02/2015 and not only saw thousands of Brightly Colored fish (yet to be identified), 2 rays, an octopus, and a sturgeon. Don't miss the Beautiful Purple Sea Fan Forest just to the right of the beach entry. But the best find of the day was a Moray eel who was nice enough to smile for the camera :) The staff made us feel like family and the food was delicious. If I had known how GREAT a snorkeling spot this was I would have booked a spot for 2 straight days......Definitely Next Time!!! Nick & Tori - December 2015 ~ Frisco, TX USA
Spent a wonderful day at the family owned resort. Great food, clean, safe, nice pool and you walk across the street to the beach. Great snorkeling and clean beach area. Good value and inexpensive Day excursion, taxi from port was $11.00 each way. A. Young - August 2015 ~ Boynton Beach, FL USA
(02/17/2019) - Found this spot on the web: actually the garden of a villa with pool, snack facility, private beach, lockers and possibility to rent snorkel gear. Normal entrance fee starts at $14. As it was too windy to snorkel, we were invited to relax at their premises for free and we were the only ones. Super relaxing. Cold drinks, nice people to chat with, delicious nachos and on top of that we met Sherri, the owner of the villa and moderator of www.cozumelinsider.com with a lot of info about Cozumel, where to stay, etc. Sherri and staff, thanks for the great day from your friends from the Netherlands. Last year we visited your Palamar beach club while on a cruise. We felt like we were in a true paradise. We are really into snorkeling so your location is tops on our list. You took the time to talk with us and tell us a bit about your self and the businesses you have. It was very good to meet and talk with you. We felt like we were visiting family and were treated as such. I am pleased to say that we are again coming in on a cruise and can't wait to return to paradise. I hope you are there so we can stop by and say hi if you are not too busy. T. Lemons ~ Cruise Passenger
This tiny little jewel of a place made our trip to Cozumel so memorable and is perfect for a cruise ship passenger. It is a quick and inexpensive taxi-ride from either port used by the cruise ships (10 minutes or less). The stately well-maintained estate, grounds, and pool are gorgeous. Just a few steps away, across the street is the private beach owned by PalMar right on the Dzul Ha reef area. I'm not a diver, but even with just my goggles, I saw dozens of fish within just a few feet of the beach. We booked this an affordable excursion and we got so much more than we expected! We arrived early and sat on the private beach reading and enjoying the view. Very soon, the caretaker came over to invite us in, even though we were early. This sweet gesture typified the excellent service we received throughout our stay.
The entry fee included two drink coupons and we enjoyed diet sodas with a meal of chicken quesadillas, guacamole, pico de gallo, and chips. The fare was simple (as the best food always is) and excellent. We also ordered tasty frozen cocktails (mango margarita and pia colada), and we definitely felt like "spoiled girls" as we swam, relaxed, and enjoyed delicious food with a view of the ocean.
When it was time for us to go, one of the employees hailed a taxi for us and getting back to the cruise port was quick and easy. I am delighted to give the PalMar Small Beach Club five stars for excellent service and a lovely facility. V. Hallenbeck - October 2015 ~ Winston-Salem, NC USA
