A Personal Note from Sherri "Beauty of Nature in Paradise"
Sherri Davis - Owner/Operator CozumelInsiderI believe Spring has sprung here on the island as we say good bye to all the Spring Breakers and Easter travelers. Just today we had the tropical version of a Spring shower ~ which means it rained furiously for awhile, flooded the streets then left and the sun was out for the rest of the day! Let's hope what they say is true ~ "April showers bring May flowers!"

One of the things I cherish about living on the island is how very close we are with nature in its wildest forms every day. Just step into the ocean with a snorkel mask and marvel at the underwater wildlife all around in its brilliant, colorful glory. Then go to the side of my house as I did this morning to pick up some discarded boards and discover not only a magnificent rose colored snake but a tarantula to boot! Oh yes...I ran...I squealed...that stuff freaks me out but then it's also great having it around because every creature serves a need in our ecosystem! Only an hour later, while on my way into town today for supplies a family of javelina crossed the road in front of me. I was so happy they had chosen this day...so early in the morning when there was little traffic. Then in the afternoon following the rains, the sun came out and all the tropical butterflies were visiting our flower filled garden around the pool. I just sat there and soaked it all in ~ the beauty of nature in a tropical island paradise!

So many projects, so little time before the next wave of tourism comes our way for the Summer. But well be ready and hopefully you are too! Its time to plan those summer getaways and dont forget Cozumel when making your travel decisions! Since Summer is a lower season for us than Winter, often you can find incredible savings not only on airfares but lodging as well. So get busy looking so we can see you this season!

I will close by reminding you all that it is National Earth Month ~ and Earth Day is April 22, 2016. Soak in the nature around you and remember to consider what part you can play in helping to reduce the growing problems of air, water and soil pollution. One life ~ one earth ~ one chance to make a difference.

Thoroughly enjoyed my two nights of turtle liberation! I have a few jealous friends who are very keen! Do you know how I would go about doing additional turtle releases? Thanks again for all your help! C. Shepherd (October 2015) ~ Milton Keyes, Buck U.K.

I am very happy that Josefina was my teacher. She tailored my Spanish classes specifically to my needs and to my level of knowledge. She made the lessons fun and informative and I have been able to begin speaking and understanding simple conversation after only 3 classes! Leah Rensfelt ~ Canada

I just wanted to let you know that my family and I enjoyed the Cozumel Marine Turtle Observation opportunity immensely. The experience was everything wed hoped it would be and more. It was truly magical watching green and loggerhead turtles coming in from the sea, digging holes, and laying their eggs. We will never forget this experience. Thank you Martin so much for your help in arranging it for us. R. Ashton (July 2015) ~ Bethesda, MD USA

We just got back from Cozumel and the best thing we did was the Sea Turtle Release with FP&M. They were very educational and not just about the turtles. We were so excited to be able to hold the babies and set them free. Watching them bob their heads out of the water to breathe was quite a sight! Digging for them was enchanting, like finding buried treasure! Thanks to COZUMELINSIDER for helping us make this happen! Karen E. ~ Arroyo Grande, CA USA

My family and I have returned to Cozumel many times - it's a favorite destination and we have watched it change over the past 20 years. The Cozumel Insider is a great publication - it's a wonderful way to keep up with the news about one of our favorite islands. We are preparing to visit again this August and the Insider has shown us some different activities to try, as well as helped to bring us up to date with local political and ecological happenings. We're delighted to see the interest in wildlife conservation throughout the area. Keep up the good work on this terrific site. D. McClean ~ unknown
