Cozumel Carnaval (Carnival) |
|
For 140 years, Cozumel has celebrated the approaching of Lent with parades, fireworks, food, music and dancing with a Carnaval (Carnaval) celebration. Everyone, from all ages, children to seniors, families and friends, locals and tourists, everyone celebrates over this period with colorful costumes, fun (and loud) music and great food and parties that last the entire period of Carnaval.
Unlike many celebrations in other parts of the world, Cozumel's Carnaval is VERY family oriented and inclusive. With the many parades, floats, music and dancing, not to mention traditional and regional foods that occur during the celebration, this makes the event a MUST ATTEND by everyone. It has also become a very popular tourist destination time of the year with all the cruise ship lines planning to dock at the harbor for their passengers to come ashore and attend the festivities.
